Dance Australia Marko Third Entry

I'm still living with Kate – she's an amazing, incredible dancer! We have great, relaxing nights vegging out. Lots of debriefing and the odd glass of red. Monday night was a very difficult night, seeing two dancers who I respected so much leave. I believe the show had a big loss that night. It's hard when you see Australia's not voting for technical dancers. I come from Contemporary Jazz background which is very technical, and would love Australia to embrace proper dance technique. But it was a wake-up call to remind you, this is a competition, and you've gotta pick up the pieces, learn from it and just have the best time on the stage and entertain the audience.

Lets talk about our Swap now! I feel it's changed the nation. I believe everyone will be Swapping in nightclubs now. And I'm happy Australia embraced it and showed Jason we wouldn't be in the bottom three. I tend to be prepared every Monday with the idea I am going to Dance For My Life,  but I believe the Australian public are enjoying seeing what Steph and Marko are gonna come out with next – fairy party or punkers. Well, this week, we're not gonna let you down - this is gonna be the funniest by far.

We're out of both our comfort zones, but it'll be harder for a ballroom dancer to throw herself around like we have to. I can't wait to be in my comfort zone soon – I'm the only dancer in the competition that hasn't danced in their comfort zone. Jive, Swap, and now this…

Ideal person to play me in a biopic: Jim Carrey or Danny DeVito.

So You Think You Can Dance - Marko's Second Entry

Doing the Jive was cool. It was good to do something a bit controversial. Some people liked it, some hated it, but a lot of  people loved it! I'm happy whenever I get to do something different, doing stuff that pushes the envelope. The audience response was unreal. Stepping on the stage for the first time was unreal – it didn't feel real, it was like a dream! I loved that Bonnie disagreed with Jason, and that a judge stood up for us and what we put out there.

Monday was good fun, it was good to be onstage with the whole group and go through something altogether instead of with partners. The evictions were very emotional, especially Courtney, as we grew up together, so it was hard seeing a close friend go through that. Also sad to see Khaly go – he was the life of the group, made everyone laugh, such a great guy. It was a big wake up call for everyone, we realized this is a competition – it was fun before, but now it gets serious.

This week's gonna be me and Steph pushing another envelope – I thought the Jive was fast, this is faster! Our routine is a lotta hard work, especially on my body, it's hurting! There's a lot of tricks - Steph's gotta throw me and flip me!  It's very strenuous, so I've gotta have my stamina ready. You've gotta be fit to do it, I hope I can talk after to the judges and not be completely out of breath.

I've been recognised by a couple of people but I still feel normal, it hasn't hit me. I'm so focused on the dance side of things, so all the hype doesn't really affect me. I've moved in with Kate, which is really good. Henry was gonna move in with Kate, but they're the complete opposites, he's messy, so he moved in with Hilton.

Biggest misconceptions dancers: That we're health freaks. I'm loving Crunchies, Flakes, Twirls. I'm always out getting fast food!

Dance - Marko's Blog

Overall, the competition has surprised me – it's been a lot more fun! The Top 100 week was quite intense, and now we're getting to know each other a lot more. There's much more of a family vibe. Everyone's bonding, but also keeping it in reality that it is a competition so everyone's pretty focused.

I'm sharing with Hilton, which is awesome. Our room is very chilled and calm, we both enjoy cooking. Burritos, pasta, pizzas, ravioli – we need energy cuz we burn it off so fast. I'm a mint chocolate freak – peppermint flakes, mint choc biscuits in the freezer – I sound like a fattie, ha ha. I'm terrible aren't I!? Me and Hilton are on different rehearsal times, which is great cuz we still get our own space. We usually have late nights. Our room usually has a few people over– we just watch movies, lotta action and comedy. It's important to get your mind off the competition or it turns into Big Brother – ‘whose playing the game'. I've also been hanging out a lot with Ant and Kate. We're the A-team – ha ha.

My dance partner is… crazy! Lots of talking, lots of fun, lots of jokes. We bring out the best out in each other. We have different qualities that make each other happy all the time. She's carefree, and doesn't let things get to her. Her singing should be put on record. When she sings it lights up the room – but not in a good way. ‘Greatest Love Of All' is her karaoke song, with a Russian twang. I'm the stressful one, she keeps me light. Our dancing styles meld; we're each other's weaknesses. She's very confident, which I love. I'm a bit nervous about our first show because I'm starting with one of my weaker styles. I think with my technique, I'll get through it. It's gonna be interesting. I can't wait to get on the stage for the first time and give it my all!

Fave dance movie: A Chorus Line; I love the '80s jazz moves!
