Biography
As the lead singer and face of Australian electrorock act the Rogue Traders and former Ramsay Street femme fatale Izzy Hoyland on Neighbours, Natalie has firmly established herself as an international success.
Natalie was nominated for the 2006 Silver and Gold Logie Awards for Most Popular Actress and TV personality.She has also been ARIA Award nominated, is an MTV Award winner and a Dolly Teen Choice Award winner.
A multi-talented musical performer Natalie played Ariel, the female lead in the 2002 live production of Footloose and Sandy in the Australian national tour of Grease in the same year. Natalie reprised the role of Sandy in GREASE – The Arena Spectacular in 2005 opposite Craig McLachlan, John Farnham, Toby Allen [Human Nature] and Magda Szubanski.
In 2006 following her exit from Neighbours, Natalie dedicated herself to The Rogue Traders. The Rogue Traders achievements to-date include: 4 x platinum sales for the bands debut album 'Here Comes the Drums', 4 x Top 20 airplay songs, 2 x Top 54 commercial singles, Number 1 album on itunes, 2 critically acclaimed national tours and seven ARIA Award nominations. Natalie performed at the 2006 MTV Music Video Awards for which The Rogue Traders received three nominations and won the award for "Best Dance Music Video".
Natalie recently finished filming her first lead role in the US feature film 'Prey'.
Q + A with Natalie
My favourite dance is (and why?)... its called the grandad! It's a dance my Grandad used to perform for us. Every now and then my friends will get on the dance floor and all do the granddad.
The choreographer/dancer/performer I look up to the most is (and why?) ... Kelly Abbey, I think the way she conveys emotion through movement is awesome. Plus the way she teaches is so inspiring.
I believe So You Think You Can Dance is a great opportunity for dancers in Australia because... because it gives Australian dancers a chance to finally be recognized and to show the public how brilliant they are.
I am looking forward to being a host on So You Think You Can Dance because... I get to watch the dancers perform live and just being a part of the best show ever.!!
I believe for a contestant to win So You Think You Can Dance they will have to... dance like they have never danced before, not be afraid to open up and express how they feel through dance and to be charismatic too. Everyone loves a bit of cheek.
The best advice I can give the finalists is... be willing to learn,this is a fantastic opportunity. Enjoy every moment. The time will go so quickly and have a blast!
The best part of working on So You Think You Can Dance is ... being inspired by all the talent.
I can't live without... my family and friends.
My greatest achievement... I think continuing to work in the entertainment industry.
What was your first job?... Working in a fish and chip shop.
My greatest inspiration (s)... my nieces and nephews.
